Ceramic Carving

Join Kelly from No Peach Ceramics for a hands-on ceramic carving class! 

Sgraffito is an ancient technique of surface decoration that involves scratching or carving through a layer to reveal a contrasting color beneath. 

During the course of this 3 hour workshop, we will cover the fundamentals of which tools and techniques to best to apply (and then remove) slips and underglazes to a pre-prepared clay "canvas". Demonstrations of when and how to carve successfully will be supplemented with in-depth advice on each aspect of the sgraffito process. 

All experience levels are welcome!

You will be provided with materials, tools, and forms to practice sgraffito and make your own unique platter. Bringing inspiration photos and design ideas is welcomed and encouraged!

We will be providing one pre-prepared raw clay platter per student to use during the course.

After the class, we will fire your finished piece and it will be ready for pick up within 2-3 weeks.
